The History of our Commercial Cleaning Company Canberra

Monaro Group has been established for over 40 years in Canberra & Queanbeyan and cleans nearly 200 commercial sites across ACT & Queanbeyan. Our status as a Cleaning and facility Services Company will provide you with all of the advantages of dealing with a large organisation but with the added benefit of dealing with a local firm that can be responsive and flexible to your needs in a way that large managed companies simply cannot.

Our client list includes several prominent law firms in the region, medical and dental practices, schools and charities and over a dozen premier Commercial & Industrial sites all around ACT & Region.

Company Structure

You will see from our commercial cleaning company structure chart that the senior decision-makers within the business are not only geographically close to the sites we clean, but our lean structure means that we are very much in touch with our clients on a day-to-day basis.  This means that when things don’t go according to plan, you can always be assured of a swift response.

Our success is built upon our firm belief that the key to providing great service is effective supervision and excellent communication.  Our Cleaning Supervisors are responsible for the delivery of the cleaning service in a number of allocated sites. Your designated Cleaning Supervisor will maintain the day-to-day relationship with you and your staff and will be responsible for ensuring that absences are covered and you are kept informed of any significant operational issues.

How do we effectively supervise our team?

  • Time and Attendance – we use state-of-the-art software to monitor the time and attendance of our cleaning staff.  This ensures that the cleaner is on-site when they should be, and allows us to receive early notice of any ‘no shows’. Self Certification –
  • The second layer of supervision entails the cleaner ‘signing off’ to confirm that they have completed the tasks and checked their own work.
  • Weekly Supervision – Your Area Manager will visit on a weekly basis to check the standards and provide feedback and training to the cleaner where appropriate.
  • Monthly Quality Check – Using a Traffic Light system that produces a percentage score, the Area Manager will meet with you monthly by appointment for an accompanied walk around to monitor all aspects of the cleaning schedule and record your level of satisfaction.
  • Next Level escalation – For Monthly Quality Checks which fall below a threshold score are reported to the Contracts Manager and Managing Director for further investigation and a remedial action plan will be implemented.
  • Senior Management Review – quarterly review of the Monthly Quality Checks by Contracts Manager and Managing Director. Senior Management are also involved in any contracts where a formal quarterly or six-monthly client review of performance against KPIs or SLAs is required Tell Monaro Group!
  • A six-monthly online survey which is sent to all of our customers to request feedback on their likelihood of recommending us and to request comments on areas we can improve on.

Absence Cover

A key reason why clients decide to outsource the cleaning function is that they don’t want the aggravation of having to organise holidays and sickness cover for their cleaners. We have over 100 staff on our payroll and each Cleaning Supervisor maintains a list of cover cleaners that they can contact, sometimes at short notice, to cover absence so that we maintain an unbroken service. We also employ mobile relief cleaners who are not allocated specific sites but are available to cover where required If it is not possible to find cover, the Cleaning Supervisor will do the cleaning tasks themselves.  We will always ensure that you are kept informed of any temporary staff changes during periods of absence of your regular cleaner.

General Liability Insurance

We can provide you with a copy of our Certificate of Insurance which includes public liability cover of $20 million.

Staff Training and Development

We support the development of our staff by investing in relevant training courses and we also provide a Learning Support package which includes day release and financial support towards relevant professional qualifications.

We believe in a diverse workforce regardless of gender or ethnicity and we  encourage all people to work with us. We are always hiring Indigenous members of the community for our workforce.
